Start November with a bang,….with No-ViCE
this week we invite you to move to the sounds of:
PICTUREPLANE (Lovepump United // Denver, CO)
From the rarely represented Mountain Time Zone, come the enticing yet unnerving pulsations of PICTUREPLANE the mastermind behind summer-fall-november-anytime jam “Goth Star” (think Stevie), and the fire LP “Dark Rift,” out this year on Lovepump. No-ViCE vets will remember his sweet naughty sounds from a couple years back.

PINK STALLONE (NJ, US)
Disco in the age of terrorism, masters of the groove and remix, mix-mix, hump-mix aficionados will warm up the evening with colossal synths and clever wit. Pink Stallone tracks can be found in the high court of the internet with seals of approval from big-wigs 20jazzfunkgreats, allez-allez and on the critically and no-vice acclaimed, Milky Disco 2 comp, out on Lo Recordings.

At Yellow Stone National Park the grizzly bear might be nearing extinction, but it is alive and well at Vassar. Ever since ViCE announced that Grizzly Bear would be performing at Vassar this fall, a grizzly fervor has hit campus. Grrrrowl. (via vicemusic) (via The Miscellany News)
Some things to keep in mind. You must read these as they may affect your Grizzly Bear-enjoyment. (i.e. Getting into the show.)

1. PHOTOGRAPHY
Grizzly Bear themselves do not want any photography (no photography, nothing flashing, nothing in their face, nothing to remember the epicness that will ensue, unfortunately). You MAY NOT bring a camera or any kind of recording device into the Chapel. If you are seen taking pictures or audio/visual recording with a camera, phone, whatever…you will be escorted out of the venue by Vassar Security. We are completely serious about this rule. If you bring a camera, you will be turned away at the door. Please don’t make us do this! We want you to enjoy the show!
2. WILL CALL
To make your life easier, ViCE will have Will Call pickup in the College Center of Main Building (see map here http://www.vassar.edu/visitors/map.html) the day of the show, tomorrow, Friday October 9 beginning at 11:00 AM. If you bought your ticket(s) online you will need to bring photo identification and the credit card you used for purchase. We will have Will Call pickup at the door, but make your life a little easier do it earlier.
3. TICKET SALES DAY-OF
There are also a limited number of tickets available for purchase tomorrow, Friday October 9th beginning at 11:00 AM in the College Center of Main Building (see map here http://www.vassar.edu/visitors/map.html). The tickets will be $25 (cash only please) with a maximum of two tickets per person. No Vassar I.D. required. If we have tickets left over we will also be selling tickets at the door; however, we cannot guarantee you a ticket for purchase at the door.
4. DOORS OPEN @ 7:00 PM
Get to the Chapel at 7 to get a good seat!
5. NO RE-ENTRY
Please keep in mind that there will be no reentry once your ticket has been taken at the door. (Get your last cigarette in before you enter.) You will not be allowed back into the Chapel. No exceptions!
6. DISABILITY STATEMENT
As always, individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations to the concert should contact Campus Activities 845 437 5370 ahead of time.
Prepare yourself for the awesome, the beautiful, the epic night you are about to experience. We’ll join you at the ALTAR of indie tomorrow night!

COLLEGE CENTER MPR
3 OH SO GOOD BANDS //// and they are…
SILK FLOWERS (PPM // Brooklyn, NY)
Ridin that dark synth wave straight to your heart, Silk Flowers will get us started on the road to the promised land. Their self titled LP out on PPM is some hot shit, and a favorite of our very own WVKR. every time you hear “Brooklyn three-piece,” you’ll think of them fondly.

KURT VILE & THE VIOLATORS (Matador // Philadelphia, PA)
We proudly present “Philly’s Constant Hitmaker,” Kurt Vile, one of the finest songwriters currently gracing the internet (and record stores too, you thieves). AND for this tour he has his trusty Violators alongside to help us remember what rock n roll feels like. In the last 2 years alone, Kurt has put out three fantastic LPs. Check out “Constant Hitmaker,” to get started, and get ready for the new LP “Childish Prodigy” out this fall.

INDIAN JEWELRY (We Are Free/Lovepump United // Houston, TX)
These cats bring us the stuff of noisy psych-out legend, straight outta texas. Wikipedia calls their live show “seizure-inducing.” They’re stopping at Vassar smack in the middle of their “Live Music” tour, which sees them share the stage w/ Faust and Psychic Ills among others. In the humble opinion of this reporter, they are a huge deal. With any luck, they will blow your fucking mind.

ViCE is happy to announce a week of ticket giveaways for the upcoming Grizzly Bear // Beach House show!

If you still need a ticket you can participate in one of our two giveaways by doing the following:
1. VICE HUNT. Remember the bear roaming campus a few weeks ago? Well, he got a bit upset with us. See, we sort of promised him the possibility of lady bears on Vassar’s campus as an incentive to come visit—and naturally, we couldn’t oblige him…Lonely and depressed, Mr. Bear hid the letters V, I, C, and E all around campus, hoping to confuse students. For the first 10 people who can find all four letters to spell out “ViCE” (he hid multiple sets—good news for you!) and return them to us by Friday to our table in the college center, we’ll return the favor with a FREE TICKET. Seems easy, right? Better start thinking like a bear…
2. FEED THE BEAR. Even though the aforementioned Mr. Bear decided to get his revenge, we didn’t want to turn our backs on the hungry bear population. All around campus you should begin seeing bears (okay, kids in bear masks) in the next couple of days. If you see one, kindly tell them, “VICE is nice. I’m going to feed you.” They will give you their mask. PAY ATTENTION: You need to bring a can of food (or a dollar) with this mask to our table in the college center BY THURSDAY at 3:00 pm to redeem your ticket. We’re working with Hunger Action to send donations to a local food pantry. In the end, you’re really helping more than just these bears. We’ll have YOUR FREE TICKET sent to your mailbox.
No, we are not crazy. We just love you.

If you aren’t one of the lucky 20 people getting tickets, don’t forget that there are a limited number available on October 9th beginning at 11:00 AM in the College Center of Main Building on Vassar College Campus (see map here http://www.vassar.edu/visitors/map.html). The tickets will be $25 (cash only please) with a maximum of two tickets per person. No Vassar I.D. required.
